Become a Tutor

Calling all teachers, students, and community members

The Illinois Tutoring Initiative is hiring tutors from across the state to support students in grades 3-8 in literacy and math (in-person) and high school math (online). Tutors are paid an hourly rate of $50/hour.

Qualified tutors must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Examples of potential tutors include, but are not limited to:

  • Current teachers
  • Retired teachers
  • Teacher education candidates
  • Higher education students
  • Community members

Tutors must be willing to meet with students for three sessions per week for 8 - 14 weeks. Tutors receive training that will allow them to plan for student success, track progress, and align their work with district curriculum. They also will have access to resources that support targeted student learning.
